"Creating a conspiracy theorist's house is not just about adding tinfoil hats, crystals and strange books, it's about crafting an environment that externalizes the internal. Researching the psychology and behavior of individuals like Teddy allows us to build a space that feels inhabited, believable and narratively potent. Every item and every wall become a window into Teddy's fractured logic and his deep need to uncover the 'truth.'" (Bleu Irvin, Designer's Assistant) Michelle's world. Auxolith. Michelle's world is a direct contrast to Teddy's. I couldn't help but think back to Ken Adam's masterful Production Design on The Ipcress File (1965). From the moment we enter Dolby's offce, the set screams that he's the double agent, but because of the way he acts and the things he says, we believe he is a patriot. This would be the approach we would take with Michelle. "In stark contrast we created spaces for Michelle that were slick, soulless and functional—almost antiseptic. Her world is stripped of sentimentality and reveal nothing of her inner life. There is no softness or trace of personality, but the lighting, desk layout and chairs reinforce order, discipline and power. Both her home and offce are spaces she only occupies in passing, simply an empty vessel for the present deliberately stripped of intimacy." (Prue Howard, Set Decorator) D.
