SEA is a consortium of the world's leading film, television, streaming companies, and industry stakeholders dedicated to accelerating the transformation of the entertainment business into a sustainable industry. SEA members currently include A24, Amazon, Disney, FOX, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount Global, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Discovery. The initiative began as a joint effort between a collective of major studios and the Producers Guild of America (PGA). They developed the Green Production Guide (greenproductionguide.com), a comprehensive tool kit for productions to plan, communicate, implement, and track sustainable practices, calculate carbon emissions and further on-screen representation of climate and sustainability. For the past year or so, the group has expanded, and its sustainable production work is being spearheaded by Sumin Sohn. Sumin brings experience in both the corporate and social sectors, and is passionate about finding innovative solutions that are both economically and environmentally beneficial to a global coalition of about 60 different member companies. Sumin is now working to help establish standards across the global filmmaking community and to connect previously fractured metrics and measures in decarbonization and circularity. The ADG Green Committee meets with and collaborates with SEA at least once per month, specifically in the form of a "Materials Working Group" among other collaborations, and they have been supportive of our ongoing vetting and testing process of potential new, more sustainable materials for practical use in the industry. This is an example their "Three Strategic Pillars" of measurement and standardization, innovation and resource development: 1. Develop industry-wide standards and measurements. 2. Advance innovations in clean tech and alternative materials. 3. Create resources for the industry, including tools and an expanded vendor guide. If you are not yet familiar with PEACH (the Production Environmental Actions Checklist) and PEAR (Production Environmental Accounting Report) tools, please take some time to explore them as they are taking hold in the industry as standards across the globe. PEAR is a tool which calculates a production's carbon footprint, and PEACH is a tool which details best practices for each department on a production. You can also find more granular research and reports on their website, and access to sustainability vendors at https://www. sustainableentertainmentalliance.org/toolkit. Please reach out to Sam Read, Executive Director, if you wish to learn more about SEA (sam@sustainableentertainmentalliance.org). ADG GREEN COMMITTEE MISSION STATEMENT: THE ADG IS COMMITTED TO MAKING POSITIVE AND LASTING CHANGES IN THE FILM, TELEVISION AND ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, AND PROMOTING A MORE SUSTAINABLE ART DEPARTMENT BY PROVIDING RESOURCES, EDUCATION, ECO- FRIENDLY SOLUTIONS, AND PARTNERSHIPS AMONG AND WITH THE MULTITUDE OF INDUSTRY CRAFTS, VENDORS AND PRODUCERS.
