Eventually, the series added the dive bar from the pilot episode to serve as the airport's bar. Originally, the bar was made as a replica of an actual bar called the Alligator Lounge in New York. It was shipped to Portland and rebranded as Nate's Lizard Lounge when it went to series. For season 2, it was shipped to LA, and inserted into the airport set for the second episode. It was modified slightly to seem more like an airport bar but keeping all the original details. So many exact mode details are in the bar that there is this uncanny valley feeling inside. For anyone who has been to the real location in Brooklyn, or seen photos, it's hard to tell if what you're looking at or experiencing is real or not. There are so many details with the bar that were painstakingly recreated for the pilot. From matching the ripped-up barstools, to the holes punched in the walls sloppily replastered into weird shapes. The detail I love the most was the happy- face balloon that escaped its owner and was now lingering on the ceiling dangerously close to the heater. I love what details like those said about the show: that we would go to unprecedented lengths to recreate this amazing dive bar on the soundstage. When we use details to this extent, it flips from mundane to surreal and beautiful. For episode 3, the crew was tasked with recreating a San Jose condo where a couple had raised their beloved Yorkshire Terrier over fifteen years ago. They had since cloned their dog and noticed the clones were different from the original. They provided one thousand and six photos of their first dog, in twelve of which you can make out some vague details of their condo. It wasn't much to go on for replicating an exact mode apartment. Luckily, we found a real estate listing of the space with a floor plan. Tracing the walls over this layout G. MONIQUE AND BOGDEN'S APARTMENT IN 2008. RESEARCH IMAGE. H.
