shared by these two characters. As their relationship dwindles, so does our characters' hair styles. He is forced to have a complete hair style change. This is something we worked closely with our cultural advisors, showrunner, and actor. COLLABORATION with Our Navajo Cultural Advisors Authenticity was Melissa's and my highest priority, which meant working closely with the Navajo cultural advisor husband and wife team, Jennifer and Manny Wheeler, every step of the way. Their expertise ensured that our portrayal of traditional hair styles, were not only visually accurate, but also respectful of their deeper cultural meanings. Through this collaboration, we learned the precise techniques used to create historical Navajo hair styles, the significance behind different styles, and the accuracy of materials traditionally used. This went beyond merely replicating a look; it was about honoring the stories and identities embedded in each hair style. For example, the tsiiyééł is more than just a bun—it represents the connection between an individual and the universe, symbolizing harmony and balance. Melissa and I scheduled every person on our team to have a one-on-one class with Jennifer for guidance, accuracy, and approval of the styles.
