22 M PS E . O R G grown tremendously. These strategies not only preserved the MPSE but also contributed to its growth, with membership now exceeding 1,000. Mark's commitment to the MPSE extends beyond his presidency, as he continues to serve on the Board, ready to support the next generation of leaders. With a diverse and innovative group of individuals at the helm, Mark expressed confidence in the organization's future and its ability to adapt to the changing landscape of sound editing. During our conversation, Mark generously shared his sentiments regarding the invaluable individuals who played roles in shaping his presidency. He began by expressing heartfelt gratitude to Anne- Marie Slack, whose unwavering support and dedication were the cornerstone of his presidency. Mark also commended the extraordinary organizational prowess and unwavering commitment of Tracie Costabile, aptly dubbing her the "backbone" of the MPSE. In the early days of his tenure, Mark found a trusted ally in Bernard Weiser, his First Vice President. Mark praised Bernard's organizational acumen and infectious enthusiasm, which played a pivotal role in helping him settle into his demanding role. Steve Urban, another luminary in Mark's presidential journey, received accolades for his instrumental role in shaping both the organization and Mark's presidency. Mark attributed much of their success to Steve's tech-savviness and unwavering dedication and encouragement. Mark's vision for the MPSE was amplified by the support of David Barber, the incoming president. Mark is deeply appreciative of David's contributions, stating, "David did so much for the organization, and I have complete confidence in his ability to lead us into the future." Mark also took a moment to acknowledge the remarkable growth and confidence exhibited by the new Vice President, Eric Marks, who is creating a lot of new Sound Advice events. Christina Horgan plays a pivotal role, serving as the editor of the quarterly magazine, MPSE Wavelength. Mark's admiration for her monumental efforts in this task was palpable, particularly considering her additional roles as the membership chair and a member of the Board of Directors. Mark further commended the indispensable contributions of Miguel Araujo, the current secretary, in keeping the MPSE organized and on track. Mark's appreciation for Miguel extended to their collaboration on Reacher and his substantial contributions to the Wavelength magazine. Mark's vision for the future is positive and focused on a commitment to innovation, education, and global collaboration. As he continues to contribute to the industry and the MPSE, Mark's impact remains profound, and his dedication to his craft serves as an inspiration to all who follow in his footsteps. I am honoured to have worked alongside such a titan of our industry and am proud to call Mark Lanza a friend. 2nd Annual MPSE Family Picnic 2023.
