The Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church was organ- ized in 1893. Originally located on Clematis Street in West Palm Beach, FL, this was the first school for African Americans in Palm Beach County. Pine Ridge Hospital was established in 1916 to serve African-Americans since they were not accepted in other hospitals at the time. The hospital offered the only care to African-Americans during segregation and the Jim Crow era. The Sunset Cocktail Lounge was established in 1933 for Jazz Entertainment.
