We then brought in curtains, flats and footlights to give different looks to the same three locations. One fun detail was our janky 'hand painted' Philadelphia backing which was another Evan and Rob collaboration. If you look closely, you can find the Swann Memorial Fountain, Rocky statue and Paddy's Pub (as a nod to Kaitlin Olson and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia). Los Angeles Episode seven took the series back to LA and introduced us to Deborah's "side mansion." This set was written specifically for the famous 'Pink Princess Mansion Estate' location, but due to a new owner and complete remodel, we were forced in a new direction. Location manager Kyle Sucher found a gorgeously aged five-bedroom, six-bathroom, 7,176-square-foot 1915 Spanish Colonial revival mansion in Altadena. It has been used as a filming location for one hundred years! First in the 1921 Max Linder film Seven Years Bad Luck, and most recently in Ratched. To give the interior a dated 1990s look, Jen pulled inspiration from old Architectural Digest magazines and design books and redecorated with some 'killer' high-end 1990s furniture. The kitchen at the home had an untouched 'high-tech' '80s remodel and we were lucky to shoot a scene with some period counter appliance dressing and a re- skin of the dishwasher. D B C A
