BITS & PIECES www.postmagazine.com 6 POST JULY/AUG 2022 ARSENAL FX COLOR EXTENDS TO NEW MEXICO ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Arsenal FX Color (www.arsenalfxcolor.tv), the Santa Monica, CA-based, full-service post production facility, has opened a new sat- ellite location in New Mexico. The Albuquerque site offers dailies, color grading and finishing services for television and film productions shooting in the state. The new studio has already provided dailies, color and finishing services for Unbroken, a pilot produced by Universal Television, starring Scott Bakula. Arsenal FX Color has successfully operated a satellite facility in Atlanta for years and chose New Mexico for further expansion due to its recent emergence as a center for film and television production. The state operates a competitive tax incentive program that offers a credit of up to 35 percent to productions. "We saw an opportunity to get in on the ground floor in a state that is quickly becoming a hot spot for production," explains Larry Field, the compa- ny's co-founder. "The state's tax incentive program, combined with its natural beauty, make it a very attractive place to shoot, but it could benefit from more post production infrastructure, particularly for dailies processing and finishing. We look to fill that need." The Albuquerque facility is located within Oso Grande, a large data center and tech hub with a campus-like environment. The site features virtual work- stations connected remotely to post production resources and storage at Arsenal FX Color's main facility in Santa Monica. The virtual workstations can be configured to perform a range of dailies and post tasks. "We can do virtually anything in New Mexico that we can in Santa Monica," says CTO Josh Baca, who designed and oversaw construction for the facility. "Our location puts virtually unlimited internet resources at our fingertips. We have also implemented biometric authentication and other security measures." The company is in the process of hiring local artists and support staff. HARBOR EXPANDING LA STUDIO CAMPUS LOS ANGELES — Harbor (https://harborpicturecompany.com) is expanding its Los Angeles footprint with the addition of 10,000 square feet to its Santa Monica campus. The addition will include new creative editorial suites, super- vised finishing suites and four new theaters. The expansion brings Harbor's total Santa Monica presence to 10 theaters and 16,000 square feet of space for theatrical, episodic and commercial picture and sound finishing. Located at 2908 Nebraska Avenue in Santa Monica, the new campus will be home to Harbor's West Coast dailies, picture, sound, VFX and motion graphics artists. The physical expansion will see Harbor grow its talent pool with the ad- dition of select new artists, producers, engineers and client services specialists. This will also allow clients to continue working across Harbor loca- tions globally with one point of contact. The mid-cen- tury-inspired facility is expected to be completed this summer.
