V I S I O N A R Y QUEST More than 40 educators came together in Lander this summer to learn and build on the skills they need to grow as engaged, successful leaders in our Association. WEA News caught up with first-time attendee WEA member Patrick Geary to learn more about his experience. WEA's statewide summer conference offered sessions on everything from Strategic Planning for Local Leaders, to LGBTQ+ Rights in Education, The Art of Functional Storytelling and Having Difficult Conversations, and more. "The Visionary Quest really provided a good introduction to the work of WEA and gave me lots of things to continue thinking about over the course of the next weeks and months," said attendee Patrick Geary. "I am glad that I attended, and I feel that my time was well-spent." WEA President Grady Hutcherson says the Quest aimed to provide members with valuable, practical tools they can use in their classrooms, as well as equipping them with the most up-to-date information on the many resources, initiatives, and programs within WEA that members can use to strengthen their professional practice, their Association, and public education in Wyoming. "Staff and governance came together in planning this event to share more information about grants available for locals, social and racial justice practices and trainings that can benefit members across the state, and best practices for local leaders," he said.
