Last year it received one of the ultimate honors when it was named the Best High School Athletic Program in the Nation by Sports Illustrated magazine for overall excellence during the past ten years. The Jackrabbits won the honor from a list of more than 38,000 high schools. Many have produced athletes that have gone on to win multiple championships on the college, Olympic and professional levels and have produced future hall of famers. In the past 50 years Poly has been the home of such sports luminaries as tennis' Billy Jean King, baseball's Tony Gwynn, football's Willie McGinest, and most recently, 2010 Wimbledon women's doubles champion Vania King. Today Poly continues to feature some of the best athletes around country – all hope to make their marks like their predecessors.
