original San Diego Comic-Con allowed the use of
their recognizable eye logo, as long as the spirit
of their original designs were maintained within
the production's graphics. Posters and banners
had to be passed by their artistic and legal teams
for approval. The challenge was always finding
the artistic freedom within the legal and time
restraints.
With the massive workload of our own fictitious
Comic-Con in sight from the start, a second
graphics person had to be hired to stay on schedule
during the block shooting of the eight-episode
arc. In addition to bringing Shane's bus graphics
to fruition, Gina Alessi wrangled the convenience
store's and high school's graphic elements. In
all, everything was designed, from a kid's vintage
sheet set to a full wrap, fairy tale-like donut truck,
to create a colorful, lively, viable world for the
director. ADG
