M . P. A . S. 2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984), or simply 2010, is a sequel to Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). In this science fiction thriller, a joint American-Soviet expedition is sent to Jupiter to discover what went wrong with the USSC Discovery One, against a backdrop of growing global tensions. Among the mysteries the expedition must explain are the appearance of a huge black monolith in Jupiter's orbit and the fate of H.A.L., the Discovery's sentient computer. Albert Brenner, also known for Bullitt, Coma, Pretty Woman and Backdraft, was the film's Production Designer. These drawings depict the interior flight deck of the spaceship Alexei Leonov. The illustration, drawn by Gary Meyer, is ink, opaque watercolor and matte opaque paint on paper. The technical drawing by B. Durrell is graphite on tracing paper and details the computer bay.
