A D G M E E T S C O M I C - C O N | P E R S P E C T I V E 2 5 For the past few years, I have collected original comic stories from members of Local 800 for an article in PERSPECTIVE magazine that is published in time for San Diego Comic-Con International. All crafts are welcome, and as always, this year there is a mix of different styles. Members from our Guild come from so many different backgrounds and disciplines, but have tremendous overlap with comic books. Some members draw professionally for comics, whether it's for their own original stories or for the various comic publishers out there. Comics allow the artists to create, write, direct and fully realize ideas without a film crew or funding of any kind. That allure is intoxicating and brings many back to this medium of self-expression again and again. This year, I haven't had the bandwidth to illustrate any pages for this article because I'm busy drawing, inking and coloring comic book props and art for the Best. Worst. Weekend. Ever., a Netflix show with Production Designer Dawn Snyder. I look forward to contributing next year and to see what else is submitted! Get started now on next year's submissions so there is plenty of time. I hope readers enjoy seeing the various styles and hidden talents of this year's submissions from ADG members.
