52 • THE ARTISAN FALL 2017 Over the past several years, I've had the privilege of working with Milla Jovovich on several films. Milla is a natural beauty. In the case of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, it was in the script to age Milla's character Alice to the ripe young age of 90. It was then that I assembled the team of Koji Ohmura and Andrea Dinobey Leanza to make it all happen. First, I enlisted Koji to make a silicon sculpture from an impression of Milla's face. We started the look with a bald cap. After that, we applied the silicon pieces, along with veneers and hand- made eyebrows. Contact lenses and a lace front wig were added to complete the look. The director Paul W.S. Anderson had budgeted $25,000 for visual effects in case we were able to achieve the look. I'm proud to say that he spent zero dollars on those visual effects! • AGING RESIDENT EVIL : THE FINAL CHAPTER B Y C H R I S T I N A S M I T H J O U R N E Y M A N M A K E - U P A R T I S T
