Dan has loved being able to fly around in models from the very beginning; he's half the reason we embraced SketchUp so significantly and so early (2006). He has felt a deep and intuitive connection to these digital models that he never seemed to experience with foamcore white models. This has now reached a new level: Harry has recently purchased a Vive virtual reality headset and a dedicated computer for the department running IrisVR's Prospect® software to let Dan (and anyone else with an interest) experience the models in a truly immersive fashion. Props and sets and people, all working together: the show is proof that sidekicks have rich, entertaining lives. This holds true for me, personally, if you choose to think of Assistant Art Directors as sidekicks to Production Designers. I have had (and continue to have) a rewarding career designing things for Dan with Harry. These rewards have come through collaborations with the many real-life superheroes I work with on a daily basis, including set decorator Bonnie Bennetts, leadman Ne'e Le'au, construction coordinator Norm Fils, foreman Ron Churchman, the special effects department led by Clark James, the property department led by Ray Massara, and the show's Graphic Designer, Meagan Grimley Filosa. I hope our streak continues.
