The exhibit, scheduled to open on June 17, will display photographs and ephemera showing the everyday working life in Scenic Departments in film, television, opera and theater, as well as a selection of personal artwork by Scenic Artists. On the opening night, Gallery 800 will host a book sale and signing by Karen Maness, co-author of the book The Art of the Hollywood Backdrop. The exhibit will close on August 6. Gallery 800 is located at 5108 Lankershim Blvd. in the North Hollywood Arts District. Drawn from archival materials and loans from Art Directors Guild members, as well as from the families of Scenic Artists, the exhibit aims to highlight a wide variety of artists, painted surfaces, techniques and tools. The exhibit organizers are Abra Brayman, curator; Michael Denering, Fine Arts Committee Chairman; Rosemarie Knopka, archivist; Karen Maness, co-author of The Art of the Hollywood Backdrop; and Christian McGuire, Gallery 800 staff coordinator. Please join us in this celebration of the accomplishments of the Scenic Art community. Scenic Artists, from left: Warren Ferrell, Jimmy Finger, Delmer J.
