Rocks the Cube Jam-Packed On March 4, Parenting OC's 11th Annual Family Summer Opportunities Jamboree welcomed 3,000 attendees to the Dis- covery Cube in Santa Ana. The iconic, geometrically-shaped science museum bulged with families visiting from all over Southern California. Family attrac- tions and over 65 exhibitors representing day camps, overnight camps, summer learning programs, sports leagues entertained guests. Program directors met with moms, dads and children look- ing to plan their summer activities. "Families came from all over Los Angeles and Orange County, from Corona to San Juan Capistrano to Torrance," remarked ex- hibitor Charlie Freund, who represented the ID Tech program for kids. "The Jamboree draws a lot of interest!" Roguish Pirates, Curious George and Beast-and-Olaf-loving Princesses strolled and posed for photos. Long lines formed for a GigSalad face painter and talented balloon twister, as well as at the Creamistry booth, which offered free bowls of liquid nitrogen- infused cream. Not surprisingly, the crowd boomed at the sold out Cute Kid Cover Contest. Over 100 perfectly dressed and coifed babies, toddlers, tweens and twins awaited their turn to be photo- graphed by Parenting OC cover photographer, Ana Brandt, in the hopes of scoring a spot on a future issue. "We were impressed with the large number of families who at- tended this event," said exhibitor Susie Alexander of Once Upon a Storybook. "It was helpful for us to introduce ourselves to so many new families!" The biggest attraction at Jamboree was the Discovery Cube of OC itself, and families took advantage of this unique event venue, adding on to their Jamboree visit by exploring the fascinating, inter- active exhibits inside the museum. "There could not be a better venue for the Summer Opportuni- ties Jamboree than the Discovery Cube," said Parenting OC pub- lisher and event producer Randall Tierney. "This is our second year partnering with the Cube, and we will return next year, with an even more jam-packed Jamboree."
