This month, we chatted with Jarrett Catalani, who was recently named Senior Vice President of Sales at Fishbowl Spirits, LLC. He had been Vice President of Sales at Russian Standard Vodka. How would you define Fishbowl Spirits culture and what attracted you to it? What originally attracted me to Fishbowl Spirits was the product line, a unique offering of quality natu- ral Caribbean rum. Our juice definitely differentiates us from competition. I perceived this brand as a lifestyle brand with an identity, driven and owned by Kenny Chesney's island lifestyle and music. There are many brands that are endorsed by celebri- ties, but not many owned by one that has a passion for his company! After meeting the team in Nashville, they certainly live the lifestyle. The culture and values of Fishbowl Spirits were definitely portrayed by the executive team led by President David Farmer and COO Tim Houston—that was what sealed the deal! What are your plans to further develop the business over the next year? Our strategy over the next couple of years will be to develop our team along with our market presence in both the chain channel and on premise. We will strive to promote the lifestyle and identity of our brands connecting with our consumers. Sales and marketing will work hand-in-hand delivering a solid plan that wholesalers can execute and consumers can engage. Our Marketing Director Monica Gray and the marketing team are very creative and have some outstanding concepts that we will all build upon. What was the best career advice you've ever been given and who gave it to you? My father always told me to work hard with integrity and good things will happen. What advice would you give to jobseekers looking for their next role? Be patient; make sure that the fit between the company's values and culture are a match for you and your skill set. Always do your homework— the industry is small, so ask questions about the company to your mentors and friends. What are some of the most valuable lessons you have learned from mentors in the industry? Always surround yourself with smart, hardworking, honest people. The biggest secret of this industry is that there are no secrets—planning, executing and smart creative marketing are what builds brands. If you didn't work in the beverage industry, what would you be doing? That's a good question, and honestly, I really do not know. I have been involved in the adult beverage industry since I was in college, and it is the only sector that I have ever worked in.
