One Arizona Vote Summit A cornerstone of the Cadre's civic engagement work is the partnership with One Arizona, a coalition of non-profit organizations focused on voter registration, voter engagement, voter mobilization, election protection, and issue advocacy. To kick off 2016, Chris Bates (CTA), Maria Chacon (CTA), Conner Carlson (NEA Student Member), Mitzy Vilchis (NEA Student member), Marisol Garcia (IDEA) and their students joined hundreds of Arizonans at the first annual One Arizona Vote Summit. They were joined by Rashawn Gilmer (CTA), Cathy Paredes (TEA) and Nidia Lias (Tempe Ele). The Vote Summit was held on January 18, 2016 at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, AZ. Dozens of community organizations collaborated to provide workshops and training on voter registration, policy issues and voting rights history. Join Us! We are interested in deepening our work with AEA members and the communities we serve. In particular, we seek to engage community partners in the process of cultivating our students and their families as leaders in civic engagement efforts; improve our professional practice and build a community of multicultural, adaptive educators ready to engage education and democracy in the 21st century.
