SICILY
In 2002,
when Trentino-based Mezzacorona invested $150
million in replanting the Stemmari vineyards in Sicily, its number-
one priority was to care for the environment. With natural beauty
all over the island, Mezzacorona knew that it would be a shame if
vineyards were to jeopardize such a treasure. To this end, Stemmari
was built as a fully energy-independent winery.
