INDUSTRY SPOTLIGHT A Feminine Appeal H Appointments andCraft Artisan Collection is the Indelicato family's new portfolio of California wines tailored to fi t the lifestyle of busy, modern women. HandCraft is the creation of Cheryl Indelicato, who teamed up with veteran winemaker Alicia Ysais to develop a wine that would be fruit- forward, distinct and easy to enjoy— similar to the fi eld blend wines that Cheryl recalls from her family's dinner table. She rep- resents the third generation of her California winemaking family. The collection retails for $14.99 with four wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Petite Sirah. Kudos to Funkin from Industry Experts F unkin, winner of Drinks International Pre-Mixed Drinks Challenge 2012 and 2011. The UK-based competition, claiming that "drinks that scored highly tended to contain fresh fruit, not synthetic fl avorings," awarded either a Gold or Silver Medal to every Funkin product entered. In fact, in 2012, there were only three Gold Medals awarded; two of them went to Funkin. Joseph Bruhin. Jeffrey Colbert. Jeffrey Colbert is the new Region VP Sales, Central Region, of Heineken USA. In his new role, Colbert will report to Scott Blazek, Senior VP of Sales. "Jeff brings a strong history of leader- ship and success in the beverage industry to the HEINEKEN USA Sales Management Team," says Blazek. "We are thrilled to welcome him to the helm of our Central Region, where he will lead a team of more than 80 sales and marketing profession- als to drive business results." Greg Harrington. A Revolutionary Whisky Palm Bay International and award-winning Master Distiller Jean-Marc Daucourt have created the fi rst artisanal whisky from France: Bastille 1789 (SRP $29.99). Hand-crafted in the Cognac region, this "revolutionary" spirit is produced from barley and wheat grown in northeast France, where some of the world's fi nest scotch producers source their malt. 10 / the tasting panel / march 2012 Laura DePasquale. Greg Harrington is the new Chair and Laura DePasquale is the new Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of The Court of Master Sommeliers. Harrington is the owner and winemaker of Gramercy Cellars in Walla Walla, WA, and DePasquale is the VP/GM for The Stacole Fine Wine Division of The Country Vintner. The Court is honored to have Harrington as the youngest American ever to pass the Master Sommelier exam, and DePasquale as the fi rst woman to hold the Vice Chair position. Hood River Distillers, the Northwest's oldest and larg- est importer and producer of distilled spirits, has hired its new Purchaser, Sue Powers. Working within the Materials group, Powers will be responsible for forecasting and purchasing supplies for production. Sue Powers. Joseph D. Bruhin is the newly appointed SVP, chief information offi cer for Constellation Brands, Inc Most recently, he served as Vice President, Information Systems at Diageo, where he was responsible for technology vision, strategy, business pro- cess and systems solutions for the North American business.
