Seattle’s Urban Enoteca Brings the Vineyards Downtown I t’s a key issue for a small winery— cost-effective exposure. Tasting rooms are essential for branding and connecting with customers, but they just don’t have the right return on investment for smaller labels. In Seattle, this issue is creatively solved by Urban Enoteca. With its grand opening this past November, Urban Enoteca is a taste of Washington wine country in the heart of Seattle, building on the European enoteca tradition, centralizing the wine experience for both locals and travelers to discover. Proprietor Terry Thompson created a multi-faceted tasting venue that offers fl ights from several easterly vineyards and wineries, including Five Star Cellars, McCrea Cellars, and Fidelitas. The self-made entrepreneur is also the author of best-selling cookbook Fresh Mexico: 100 Simple Recipes for True Mexican Flavor. —David Gadd Sauza Cocktails Made Easy C WARM WINTER MARGARITA [serves 4] ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ 28 oz. apple juice 1 cinnamon stick 2 cups dried fruit of your choice 2 tbs. granulated sugar 6 oz. Sauza silver tequila Combine apple juice and cinnamon in a heavy pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove cinnamon stick. Add dried fruit, sugar and tequila. Mix well. Serve warm.
