WELCOME TO THE 25TH ANNUAL ADG EXCELLENCE IN PRODUCTION DESIGN AWARDS SHOW! e format for our show this year is like no other previous one. We are "live," yet "virtual." Although we might not yet be able to celebrate and enjoy each other's company "in-person," we have gured out a way to turn our situation into an advantage. Tonight's show is being broadcast on a platform that is literally bringing us "worldwide," just like the web. What this means is that more people are watching tonight's show than have watched any ADG Awards presentation ever. People are tuning in and participating from around the globe, including many who would not have been able to travel to Los Angeles to attend due to public health restrictions. We were able to reach out and invite friends, family members, community members and students who normally would not be in attendance for logistical reasons. To all of those folks, I want to extend a warm personal welcome. Yet despite these di erences, this year's show has many of the special qualities that happen every year. Our awards once again honor entire bodies of work and recognize the best in multiple categories of motion picture, television, commercials, music videos, variety and competition shows. We spotlight important artists who have inspired us all, including multi-award-winning writer-director- producer Ryan Murphy, who is being honored tonight with our esteemed Cinematic Imagery Award. Receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards are Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning Production Designer Stuart Wurtzel, the proli c Scenic Artist Pat DeGreve, the dynamic and second- generation Set Designer Martha Johnston, and the Production Illustrator known for his work on the Star Trek franchise, John Eaves. You may be on your couch this year, and probably not as dressed up as you have been in the past, but it is going to be an amazing night all the same. Please sit back and embrace the new normal with me tonight, as the Art Directors Guild Awards Show goes virtual! 9 Chuck Parker NATIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Art Directors Guild, IATSE Local 800 G R E E T I N G S F R O M CHUCK PARKER NATIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
