Unlike the courtroom, we knew from day one that Billy, the show's leading character, would end up getting swept away by rushing water in a tunnel, but it would not be shot until the very end of our schedule, giving proper time to plan for it. The set was built in two main sections. The entrance, which doubled as the pump room, and a separate 60-foot long tunnel with a boring machine. The 40-foot technocrane only fi t in one spot on the stage. As a result, the tunnel was built and dressed symmetrically to achieve all the desired shot directions without having to move the crane around. The tunnel was waterproofed to hold about a foot of actual water for the aftermath of the fl ood and an escape hatch was hidden and revealed by a plug as needed. It was important to build a curved section of the tunnel so the rushing water added with visual eff ects would have the accurate physics needed to cascade toward Billy. B The set took a substantial amount of planning, but it all came together beautifully with the collaborative eff ort of every department. I am so proud of all we were able to accomplish. None of it would have been possible without the support of every department, from preproduction to delivery of the fi nal episode. The physical distance between our locations and sets meant I spent a lot of time rushing to catch up upon arrival. Thankfully, I worked with the most amazing Art Department, construction and set decoration crews. None of this would have been possible without Art Director Danielle Aziz, who oversaw both the stage and location builds, paired with the professionalism and talent of construction coordinator Johnny Mazola, and set decorator Ryan Welsh. They turned what would have been an impossible task into a fun and challenging adventure. ADG A. COURTROOM FLOOR PLAN. DRAWN BY ANDREW LEITCH. B. & C. BLACKWOOD COUNTY COURTHOUSE. STAGE BUILD. D.
