ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR WEA AWARDS Each year, the Wyoming Education Association Board of Directors reviews nominations for various awards to help honor those who contribute to the WEA and/or Wyoming public education. Gold Key Award - The Gold Key is the most prestigious award conveyed by the Wyoming Education Association. It is presented for extraordinary service which has contributed to the professional development of WEA and to the enhancement and advancement of education in the state of Wyoming. Green Apple Award - The Green Apple Award is for recognition of members who contribute to environmental awareness. This award will help to strengthen the bond between education and the environment by bringing the efforts of teachers to the attention of the public and other educators. School Bell Award - The Wyoming School Bell Award is presented annually to a representative of the news media for outstanding coverage of education news and issues. Friend of Education Award - The purpose of the Friend of Education Award is to recognize a person or persons who have demonstrated evidence of exceptional service to teachers, schools, and children. The Harriett "Liz" Byrd Award - recognizes an individual or group for outstanding contributions in the areas of human relations, multiculturalism and/or diversity in the ield of education. Education Support Professional of the Year - recognizes a WEA member whose activities relect the contributions of education support professionals to public education. The National Foundation for the Improvement of Education's Award for Teaching Excellence - recognizes an educator who exempliies excellence in teaching as well as support for the profession through association activism. The WEA Award winner represents WEA in the national NFIE Award for Teaching Excellence competition.
