The studio also launched a new satellite studio in Kansas City, which Kaufman will lead. Kaufman will soon take up residence in Kansas City, where his editorial suite will be located within the offices of creative content and experience design studio Hint. The opening was scheduled for earlier this month. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago, Kaufman earned his first job from Cutters in 2013 as an assistant editor. After learning on-the-job, his latest reel features work on spots for Dairy Queen, Courtyard by Marriott, Gatorade and McDonald's. JOHN BAILEY John Bailey has been elected the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the organization's Board of Governors. A number of individuals were also elected to officer positions. While Bailey is beginning his first term as president, this is his 14th year as a governor representing the cinematographers branch. Bailey's cinema- tography credits include Ordinary People, American Gigolo, The Big Chill, Groundhog Day, As Good as It Gets, The Anniversary Party, The Way Way Back and A Walk in the Woods. In 2014 he received the American Society of Cinematographers Lifetime Achievement Award. BENJI DAVIDSON Brickyard VFX Santa Monica studios has added Benji Davidson to its team as VFX supervisor. His creative experience includes live action directing, creative directing and VFX supervision, and he is known for bringing highly-imaginative concepts to life from storyboard to visual delivery. Davidson joins Brickyard from MPC, where he served as VFX supervisor since 2008. In his career, Davidson has worked as an on-set VFX supervisor, lead 2D artist and director, among other things. Notable projects include Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops III Seize Glory, EA Sports' Madden NFL 16 Madden: The Movie, Samsung's Do What You Can't and Super Bowl spots for Coca Cola and Acura. RORY GORDON, GREG WERNER Santa Monica's ArsenalFX Color has been nur- turing the next generation of colorists for tele- vision — a field that it feels is drastically lacking in new talent. The company recently an- nounced the promotion of both Rory Gordon and Greg Werner to senior colorists. Both were previously colorists at the studio. Gordon is a colorist with a life-long passion for both the science and art of image capture. She has worked on more than a dozen television shows as a colorist. Werner is a final colorist who has worked in the television post production industry since 1995, working primarily in high-profile, episodic television. Series include Freaks and Geeks, The West Wing, 24 and HBO's Creature Features. CHARLOTTE LOYNES The London based production studio Jellyfish Pictures has announced the appointment of Charlotte Loynes to development producer. Drawing from her extensive career in animation spanning 20 years, Loynes will support and guide the creative ideas Jellyfish generates internally as well as their collaborations with external developers. Having worked for the past six years as a free- lance animation producer and consultant, Loynes has been instrumental in a plethora of animation projects. Throughout her career, Loynes' roles have included executive producer at Seed Animation, agency producer at Amp London and producer at MPC, UNIT 9 and Aardman. HELEN HUGHES Framestore has promoted Helen Hughes to the role of head of advertising, London. Hughes has been an integral part of Framestore's production department since 2010, leading a growing team of producers across Framestore's core VFX artistry. Hughes' passion and commitment to the craft of well-executed, high-quality advertising have seen her amass an impressive roster of clients, turning out major campaigns as well as a string of iconic James Bond title sequences. The creation of the head of advertising role speaks to Framestore's dedication to quality commercial work, in tandem with its successful film division, a new television team and a wealth of digital content spanning dark rides, mixed realities and experiential installations. CARA LEHR Deluxe's Method Studios has promoted veteran producer Cara Lehr to lead its commercial finishing business in Los Angeles as executive producer. Lehr has been a commercial producer for 13 years — 10 of them with Method Studios, most recently as senior producer, matching talent with project needs and providing an excellent client experience for brands including Apple, Microsoft, Nike, ESPN, Lexus and Taco Bell. She has also worked on several features. Prior to Method, she worked with studios including Asylum, Digital Domain, Psyop and Brickyard. CHRISTIAN CARDONA, BUDDY GHEEN To support and grow the company's rap- idly expanding VFX department, Burbank, CA's Picture Shop has added Christian Cardona and Buddy Gheen (Pictured, L to R). Cardona will join the ranks as senior VFX supervisor alongside recently promoted VP/senior VFX supervisor Adam Avitabile. Gheen will be joining the department as a creative director of VFX.
