In terms of setting up a series, success ultimately comes down to what you need to do visually to sell both the pilot and the possibility of the series." Paul's articles have appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles magazine and Bloomberg Businessweek, among others. JON BURLINGAME ("Taking Music and Sound to Another Realm") observes that after only three movies together, and a fourth on the way, director Denis Villeneuve and com- poser Jóhann Jóhannsson "have built a surprisingly close relationship and are on the cut- ting edge of the marriage of music and image in film." Jon writes regularly for Variety and is the author of the award-winning The Music of James Bond. AMY DAWES ("The Journey Is the Destination") was amused to learn from Kelly Reichardt that her new film Certain Women "originally had a much ruder title. High winds on location in Livingston, Montana, were so fierce and constant that cast and crew dubbed the project 'Livingston Blows,' and formalized it on T-shirts and caps." Amy also writes about film and television for the Los Angeles Times and Emmy magazine. F.X. FEENEY ("Watching The Last Picture Show with Tom Ford") says the director, "through his conquest of high fashion, has built a free world for himself, but being a creator who is—first and last—self-directed, he's applied that freedom to producing and directing first-rate films. I can't wait to see what he does next." F.X. is a writer and filmmaker whose latest book is Orson Welles: Power, Heart & Soul. ROBERT KOEHLER ("The Biopic's Myriad Challenges") says he was "pleased when learning from the directors I spoke to how much they depend on the kindness and creative energies of so many collaborators." Robert is an author, film critic and programmer who regularly contributes to Cinema Scope, Sight & Sound and Variety, among others. HUGH HART ("Bold Strokes") was "struck by the way directors added literal dimension to comic book stories by filtering source material through their own sensibilities," adding that superheroes gain strength "when they occupy imaginary landscapes enriched by the ghosts of Dickens or Gordon Parks." Hugh writes about film, television and digital media for Fast Company, Wired.com and the Los Angeles Times. DUSTIN SNIPES who photographed the cover, says "It was great getting to work with such a visionary group of people. I could listen to them talk about their craft all day long!" An L.A.-based portrait photographer, Dustin works frequently with such brands and publications as Coca-Cola, Nike, Marriott, Red Bull, The New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles magazine, Muscle & Fitness and Sports Illustrated, among others.
