Arash Pakzad: Los Angeles Winner "I have my roots in the Bay Area, just like Hangar One," said Arash Pakzad, who won the Los Angeles regional title with his take on a classic sour, the Granny Hangar. "I was 100 percent inspired by the vodka," said Pakzad, whose next venture will be a Bay Area barrel aged cocktail spot, fittingly called Barrel Aged. Look for it in Martinez, CA this month. Hangar One Straight ◗ 1 oz. fresh-pressed Granny Smith apple juice ◗ 1 oz. fresh-squeezed Meyer lemon juice ◗ ¾ oz. pure cane sugar syrup ◗ 1 oz. pasteurized egg white ◗ 2 dashes Peychaud's bitters ◗ 3 dashes baked apple bitters ◗ Dry shake all ingredients, add ice, hard shake and serve in a rocks glass. Adam Stemmler: San Diego Winner "Hangar One Vodka is a California-made product, and I really like the fact that we're making really good vodka here in California," said Adam Stemmler, whose cocktail Brewer's 75 won the San Diego vote by paying homage to the city's burgeoning brewery scene with his hops- and barley-infused Hangar One. "When you have the opportu- nity to support local products in your cocktails, you should." Brewer's 75 ◗ 1¼ oz.
