Leo Chaloukian Retires Leo Chaloukian CAS retired last year at the age of 86. He led a 60-year career beginning at Ryder Sound. He later bought the company that was eventually sold to Soundelux in 1996. Under his leadership, the company garnered 42 Emmys and an Oscar for Platoon. He served as a president of the Television Academy and is currently a Board member for the Academy Foundation. Leo Chaloukian is an Honorary member of the Cinema Audio Society and was awarded a "Special Award" in 1988 to honor his unique contributions to sound for picture. The Cinema Audio Society would like to congratulate him on his retirement and thank him for the contributions he has made on behalf of the art and craft of sound for picture.
