www.postmagazine.com 14 POST NOVEMBER 2015 JMR RELEASES LIGHTNING THUNDERBOLT 2 TO PCIE-EQUIPPED STORAGE PRODUCTS CHATSWORTH, CA — JMR Electronics, Inc. (www.jmr.com) recently announced the general availability of its new line of Lightning Thunderbolt 2 to PCIe- equipped storage products. Of the new family, the LTNG-XQ and LTNG-XQ-8 Thunderbolt 2 to PCIe- equipped storage products are intended for Mac Mini, MacBook and Mac Pro users having only Thunderbolt expansion available, but wanting to connect to PCIe peripherals, which are widely used in the digital video, digital cinema, cor- porate video and production/post industries. All of the Lightning products are expandable by daisy chaining them to other Thunderbolt connected devices. According to JMR, its Lightning LTNG-XQ and LTNG-XQ-8 products prom- ise to be the highest performing and most versatile Thunderbolt 2 to PCIe storage products in the industry, and are based on just three Thunderbolt 2 to PCIe adapter boards, developed by JMR and providing 1, 2 or 4 PCIe slots. The unique variants of each model are in the packaging and additional features can include as an on-board RAID storage system; provision for desktop or rackmount installation; and soon-to-be released provision for mounting the Apple Mac Pro computer inside the versatile 8 disk drive-bay tower/rackmount model (LT- NG-XQ-DTMP). Two of the main Lightning family of Thun- derbolt 2 to PCIe storage products include: LTNG-XQ-DT or RM, an Intel-certified desktop or rackmount Thunderbolt 2 to PCIe quad slot expander, and the LTNG-XQ-8-DT or LTNG-XQ-8-RM, a four slot desktop (DT) or 4U rackmount (RM) Thunderbolt 2 to PCIe expander with an internal hardware (6Gb/s SAS) RAID controller and an 8-bay disk-ready RAID array for working storage. BITS & PIECES SMPTE RELEASES TRAILER FOR MOVING IMAGES DOCUMENTARY LOS ANGELES — The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (www.smpte.org) has released the trailer for Moving Images, a SMPTE film project aimed at documenting the history of motion-imaging technolo- gy. The production team has captured more than 48 hours of interview footage, gathered archival material from the past 100 years, and drew from these sources to create a "first-look preview" for screening in 4K at the 2015 NAB Show and, more recently, a re-cut version newly released for public viewing (http://www.smpte100.org). "I'm extremely proud of what we've accomplished with this project — the wealth of video, audio, still images and historical records we have gathered so far is remarkable," says Moving Images director Howard Lukk, a SMPTE Fellow and standards director, as well as a film director at Pannon Entertainment Inc. The goal of the documentary project is to investigate the influence of art and science on one another, to introduce the engineers and artists working behind the scenes over the course of the industry's evolution, to highlight the craftspeople who have changed the way media is consumed, and to explore future possibilities for innovation. Writer/director Chris Kenneally developed the initial treatment in 2013. Lukk has since completed the Moving Images script outline and trailer in concert with executive producers Barbara Lange (photo below) and Pete Ludé, producer Randall P. Dark, cinematographer Travis LaBella, editor Bobby Hewitt and associate producers Aimée Ricca and Richard Welsh. 800-323-2325 Check us our at www.videoguys.com Media Composer opens your possibilities even further, simplifying and accelerating file-based workflows and real-time production everywhere.
