DOUG ROBLE Cary Phillips and Dr. Doug Roble have joined the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, bringing the Council's 2015– 2016 membership roster to 25. Phillips is the co-head of research and development at Industrial Light & Magic. With the company for 20 years, he has won three Academy Technical Achievement Awards. Roble is the creative director of software at Digital Domain, where he has worked since the company's founding in 1993. He won a 1998 Technical Achievement Award and a 2007 Scientific and Engineering Award. TEDDY GERSTEN Santa Monica-based VFX/editorial/design stu- dio Butcher has promoted longtime, award-winning staff editor Teddy Gersten to partner. During his time at Butcher, Gersten has worked with a variety of notable clients, including Nike, Chrysler, Microsoft and Porsche, and has earned Clio and Cannes Lions awards for his Honda work. He will continue to showcase his wide range of cutting styles while also mentoring the assistant staff editors. STEPHAN FLEET Culver City, CA-based visual effects house Zoic Studios has added veteran VFX supervisor Stephan Fleet to its roster. With a diverse background in VFX and digital media, he has held posts as a visual effects supervisor for such top TV titles as Extant, The Whispers and Scorpion. Fleet comes to Zoic from Encore Hollywood, where he served as executive creative director, helming the creative on VFX for the studio's projects. Fleet will work on projects across Zoic's Culver City, New York City and Vancouver studios. Outside of VFX, Fleet is a director and has several projects currently in development. JEFF FIORELLO New York-based music/sound design company JSM Music has bolstered its roster of talent by bringing on music production vet Jeff Fiorello as executive produc- er. Fiorello arrives at JSM from Yessian Music, where he's spent the last three years as senior music produc- er. During his decade-long career in commercial music production, Fiorello has also served as a producer at fellow renowned music companies such as Elias Arts and has collectively produced work for key brands like Budweiser, BMW, Coca-Cola, Gillette, Pepsi and Red Bull. At JSM, Fiorello will deploy his production skills while helping oversee a music/sound roster of talent. ROB DI FIGLIA Shotgun Software, developer of the cloud-based production tracking, review and asset management software for film, TV and games, announced that Rob Di Figlia has been hired to lead the company's Studio Pipeline Initiative. Working out of the company's Venice, CA, office, Di Figlia will partner with new and existing Hollywood studio clients to drive product development and implementation. Prior to joining Shotgun, Di Figlia spent five years as co-founder and head of production at Oktobor Animation (Auckland/ Los Angeles), where he worked with clients that included Nickelodeon and DreamWorks to produce content for animated television shows, including Kung Fu Panda, Penguins of Madagascar and Monsters vs. Aliens. NATALIE JOHNS LA-based commercial production company Tröll Pictures welcomed Natalie Johns to its directorial roster. The filmmaker's work spans live entertainment, documentary and branded content. She was nom- inated for an Emmy in Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for Annie Lennox: Nostalgia Live in Concert and her documentary I Am Thalente won the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature Film at the 2015 LA Film Festival. PETER WARE, ANDY WILLIAMS LA-based Stargate Studios has hired Peter Ware and Andy Williams to oversee the company's production depart- ment. Ware returns to Stargate as executive producer, having led the studio's production efforts from 1999 to 2008. He has more than 30 years of experience in nearly every aspect of the entertain- ment business, with TV producing credits including Columbo and Doctor Who. Williams will serve as head of production and has nearly 20 years of experience in the production and post industries. Most recently, he was head of production and executive producer at Dive (now Alkemy X) in New York City. DAVID MAGNIER Biscuit Filmworks UK recently signed David Magnier to its directorial roster. An up-and-coming director based in London, Magnier was shortlisted for the Young Director Award at this year's Cannes Lions for his :60 test for the Road Safety Authority, Flashback. His knowledge of post production and visual effects informs his innovative visual style, which incorporates effects to tell stories from distinct and unexpected perspectives. Originally from Ireland, Magnier started his career working in post at Dublin's Lotus Film, and then joined forces with T.J. O'Grady-Peyton to form directorial duo PONDR.
