Caratelli are small casks used in Italy for aging precious wines, like Vin Santo. Dom Pérignon, the French monk credited with creating Champagne, was blind. Putting ice and kosher salt in a bucket will chill wine faster. Jordan Vineyard & Winery is implementing a new organizational structure for its North American sales. Jordan sales division will be broken into three geo- graphical territories, and a new National Sales Director has been appointed to lead both the U.S. sales team and the venerable winery's export business. Southeast Regional Sales Director Emmanuel Padilla has been promoted to National Sales Director, replacing Chris Avery. Padilla joined Jordan in 2011 after several years in wine distribution and restaurant management. Northeast Regional Sales Director Ashley Cesario is now Regional Sales Director, Eastern U.S.—she will oversee Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Midwest Regional Sales Director Brad Butcher is now Regional Sales Director, Central U.S.— looking after Texas, New Mexico, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Louisiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. Western Regional Sales Director Nick Holmes becomes Regional Sales Director, Western U.S.—presiding over Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii. Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) has announced the appointment of Russell Motz to the role of Vice President, Retail National Accounts effective September 1. In his role, Motz will have responsibility for the leadership of the Company's Retail National Account sales team and its strategic business initiatives. Motz joined RNDC in 1992 as a sales representative in Austin, Texas. He had progressive career roles as a district manager and division manager. Following his sales career track at RNDC, Motz accepted a three-year developmental assignment with the E&J Gallo Winery as a field marketing manager and state manager. In 2000, Motz returned to RNDC as the retail sales manager and vice president, wine for the South Texas market. Most recently, Russell served as Executive Vice President, leading the successful Texas State Wine Team. His achievements included the complete reorga- nization of the Texas wine division, which resulted in improved alignment of RNDC resources to better serve customer needs.
