T he 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® will be simulcast live from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on TNT and TBS on January 29, 2012 at 5 p.m. Pacific/8 p.m. Eastern. The awards honor the finest film and television performances from 2011. A highlight will be the presentation of Screen Actors Guild's 48th Life Achievement Award to Mary Tyler Moore. YOU CHOOSE WHO RECEIVES THE ACTOR® Debuting in 1995, the SAG Awards® is the first and only televised awards show to exclusively honor performers. Recipients of the coveted Actor® statuette are chosen by you, the SAG membership, making the SAG Awards the only top industry honor for actors, voted upon exclusively by union members. With more than 125,000 members, SAG represents a huge pool of knowledgeable professionals who understand acting. That is one of the reasons the SAG Awards is so widely respected by the industry, the media and the millions of viewers of the Awards telecast. They know and we know that our members understand the hard work and mutual collaboration it takes for a great actor or ensemble to create a memorable performance. Nominations will be announced December 14. Take the time to view as many outstanding nominated performances as you are able (for more information on watching nominated performances, see "View the nominated performances" section on the next page) and vote for your choices to take home The Actor® on January 29. GO GREEN! VOTE ONLINE The SAG Awards® is continuing its commitment to the environment by again offering secure and efficient Internet voting, which has allowed SAG members to select the final Actor® recipients online for the past seven years. To further our green efforts, we are again offering a paper ballot only upon request. Last year, this initiative saved an amazing three tons of paper. Initiatives such as online voting have made the SAG Awards a leader in "going green," and those efforts have 48 SCREEN ACTOR - Fall 2011 SAG.org
