The series continues with the debut of the 2012 Herzog single vineyard Dry Creek Cabernet Sauvignon ($75). The wine spent 580 days in French oak barrels. "I fell in love with this very steep vineyard, a 20% grade, in Dry Creek. The soils are shallow—such a perfect growing area for concentra- tion and ripeness. The wine is spicy, rich and packed with dynamic notes of cinnamon, strawberry-cocoa, rhubarb and cranberry. The oak influence is just a whisper behind the dark forest fruit. Joshua Greenstein is the Executive VP for the Israel Wine Producers Association. KOSHER SPIRITS Los Arangos Blanco is Certified kosher and kosher for Passover. The brand dates back in Jalisco before the region took on the designation for producing tequila. The notes of agave and clay are prominent on the palate, with earthy lime and white grape- fruit on the finish. The Legend of Kremlin vodka came from an original recipe that dates back to 1430 and the vintage bottle design was crafted after a glass- maker from 1819 Russia. The Romanoff family symbol is displayed on the smoky glass label. The vodka itself has a big Eastern European personality: white pepper, starch and wheat cereal in a luxuriously textured body. Master of Wine Loren Mackillop is also the Master Distiller behind Tomintoul whisky. While we loved the 14-year old non-chill filtered single malt from Speyside's Glenlivet distillery, the 37-year old Reserve version (only 600 bottles available in the U.S.) brought us into another dimension. The $600 liquid in the bottle offered up peach pits, peach fruit that was very much alive and fresh tasting! The sweet peach syrup lingers on . . . Jean-Cyrill Vincent from Cognac Louis Royer repre- sents the biggest name in kosher Cognac sold in the U.S. thanks to the Herzog team and Royal Wines. The line includes a VS, VSOP and an XO.
