www.postmagazine.com 42 POST OCTOBER 2014 PRODUCTS IBC 2014 HIGHLIGHTS AJA RAW CION FORMAT SUPPORTED IN ADOBE PREMIERE PRO CC GRASS VALLEY, CA — AJA Video Systems (www.aja.com) announced that its AJA Raw CION camera format will soon be supported in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Adobe previewed several new developments and updates to Pre- miere Pro CC at the IBC 2014 conference in Amsterdam. AJA Raw support is enabled through the Cinema DNG format and allows for a familiar and powerful workfl ow when the utmost fl exibility is required for color work for VFX, feature, and complex lighting and location pipelines. At IBC, Adobe previewed the newest advancements to its Creative Cloud video apps, including Premiere Pro CC and After Eff ects CC. These advance- ments include timesaving media and project management features, and a refi ned user interface with HiDPI support across all of the video desktop apps. AJA's CION is a new, ergonomic, professional production camera capable of shooting at 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD resolutions. CION off ers in-camera recording directly to the Apple ProRes family of codecs, including ProRes 4444, and ProRes 422 up to 4K 60fps. CION off ers the ability to output 4K AJA Raw data at up to 120fps via four 3G-SDI outputs. Pricing for CION is $8,995. SQUARE BOX RELEASES NEW CATDV 11 AND CATDV WEB 2 STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, UK — Square Box Systems (www.squarebox. com) showcased CatDV 11, the next-generation of its asset management software, plus CatDV Web 2, a new approach to online media asset manage- ment, during IBC 2014. The key features of CatDV 11 include: an enhanced user-experience, with additional media management tools, accessible to new customers and familiar to exiting users; native-capable playback engine, supporting the very latest digital cinematography cameras; improved integration with major video editing and creative collaboration platforms; and new functions for enterprise-scale deployments. CatDV Web 2 delivers a new, standalone Web interface for CatDV. A clean, modern and simple design provides intuitive and powerful media and meta- data management toolsets via an entirely browser-driven interface. Features include logging, search and retrieval tools, rough-cut editing capabilities, and easy system administration. ROHDE & SCHWARZ DVS INTRODUCES R&S PRIOS HANOVER, GERMANY — Rohde & Schwarz DVS (www.dvs.de) has un- veiled the latest addition to its video board family — R&S Prios — for the playout of high-resolution sequences with high frame rates (HFR). The maximum resolution it can handle is a full 4K (4096 x 2160), with lower resolutions such as UHD (3840 x 2160), 2K, and HD also supported. R&S Prios delivers high picture quality as it retains full RGB 10-bit color depth even for 4K at 120fps. For 4K at 60fps it can also output RGB 4:4:4 with 12 bits per color component. In terms of connec- tivity, R&S Prios has four DisplayPort 1.1a outputs. Rohde & Schwarz DVS will also off er various upgrades for R&S Prios soon. The pipeline includes SDI inputs and outputs for 4K, four independent HD channels, as well as stereo- scopic 3D in 4K resolution. MAXON'S CINEMA 4D RELEASE 16 SHIPPING FRIEDRICHSDORF, GERMANY — Maxon (www.maxon.net) is now shipping Cinema 4D Release 16 (R16), the next generation of its 3D software, which made its international debut at IBC 2014 in Amsterdam last month. In addition to numerous workfl ow enhancements, Cinema 4D R16 also off ers a number of new features for rendering, modeling, UV editing, workfl ow and interface, sculpting and more, including a modeling PolyPen "super-tool," a motion tracker for integrating 3D content within live footage, and a refl ec- tance material channel for multi-layered refl ections and specularity. Features in R16 include: the new Team Render Server that adds server func- tionality to Team Render; the ability to add jobs to Team Render Server either via a watchfolder or a Web interface; and a new Refl ectance Channel that allows users to add multiple layers of refl ections. Release 16 is available for both Mac OS X and Windows.
