Highest Quality GLAMOUR Footage in the industry with INFINITE POSSIBILITIES Bits & Pieces 10 Post • October 2009 www.postmagazine.com V ENICE, CA — ShadeVFX (www.shadevfx.com) has completed visual effects for a new Time Warner Cable spot that promotes its free Roadrunner power boost feature. The spot was created by Uniworld/NY and di- rected by Jim Sonzero. In Lag, two teens are engaged in an online videogame that requires the fastest connection. The teen with the power boost is able to take on the enemy in the shooter-style game, advancing and retreating when nec- essary. The player without the boost is literally a sitting duck. Shade founder Br yan Godwin says the project marks the studio's first national campaign. Shade teamed with editor Bob Mori and executed color design and timing with colorist Steve Rodriguez of Co3. De Motu provided graphic de- sign for the campaign. Both Shade and De Motu are members of Red Magnet, a creative solutions collec- tive. The project came to Shade via Red Magnet's Shira Boardman, who had bid with Sonzero in the past. "This is not the type of board you see too often, in terms of the filmic quality, the creative and so for th," says Godwin. "We came in very early on to do previs, because the total turnaround was extremely tight. It was a one-day shoot, so we wanted to be prepared and make sure we got what we needed." Shade did CG vehicles, matte paintings, tracking, compositing and weapons. They used Maya and Men- tal Ray for the spaceship and 3DS Max with FumeFX for all the explo- sions. Compositing was via Nuke. ShadeVFX launches with Time Warner spot Blazing Music+Sound (www. blazingmusicsound.com) in Raleigh, NC, has added a fourth audio suite in response to a growing audio-for-TV business. Audio D is built around Pro Tools|HD2 and was designed with a home theater viewing experience in mind. The room is being used for mixing and final review.
