celebrate the actor 3rd ANNUAL W ith a roster of firstrate nominees in five film and eight television categories as well as honors for stunt ensembles, this year's anniversary telecast promises to be a stellar tribute to actors and the art of performance. For 20 years, the awards show has featured the industry's most recognizable faces and helps highlight the importance of unions to the viewing public. The event benefits the SAG Foundation and no member dues are spent on production. There's plenty to celebrate this year, starting with the presentation of the 50th Life Achievement Award to Rita Moreno. A highlight of the evening is always seeing which actors will open the show with insights about their craft or a brief biographical anecdote. The annual Actors 2nd ANNUAL Stories segment, which has become a beloved tradition, began with Angela Lansbury at the very first SAG Awards and has evolved over the years to multiple tales by surprise storytellers. And, as we do every year, we will pay tribute to the members who have passed away in the past 12 months. Of all the top industry honors presented to actors, only the SAG Awards features voting exclusively by fellow performers. With more than 165,000 members, SAG-AFTRA represents a huge pool of knowledgeable professionals. That is one of the reasons the SAG Awards is so widely respected by the industry, the media and the millions of viewers of the awards telecast.
