products Pyle intros compact, high-speed camera N EW YORK — Pyle Audio (www.pyleaudio.com) has introduced the PSCHD60, a hi-speed, compact, 12 megpixel HD camera/camcorder. Designed for action sports situations, the camera costs just $99 and is available in black, blue, grey, red and silver. The PSCHD60 records at 120 frames-per-second (1080p or 720p) and features a 4X zoom. The unit features a 2.4-inch invertible touchsscreen display. A Micro SD card slot accepts up to 32GB cards for extended recording. The camera can also be operated by a Wi-Fi remote control to wirelessly snap pictures and record video. A waterproof case, multiple mounts and clips are all included, allowing the camera to be used in a range of situations. A rechargeable lithium battery can provided up to two hours of record time. Avid unveils next-gen console B URLINGTON, MA — At the AES show in New York recently, Avid (www.avid.com) unveiled a new control surface that's designed for sound recording, mixing and editing. The S6 will replace the company's ICON line and is scalable to meet current and future workflows. S6 offers the ability to simultaneously control multiple Pro Tools and other EuCon-enabled DAWs over Ethernet. Its modular design can be customized with the addition of the modules needed to match workflows. Pre-configured S6 M10 or S6 M40 surfaces may be purchased with the required faders and knobs already provided or with S6 M40, further personalized with different channel control combinations. The multipoint touchscreen quickly and easily accesses plug-ins, large track counts, and surround panning, while top-lit status knobs and high resolution OLEDs add operational efficiency. Additional 12.1-inch displays on M40 systems further enhance project overview by providing feedback on key items such as channel names, audio meters, routing, clip names, and scrolling waveforms. 40 Post • November 2013 www.postmagazine.com Panasonic delivers new AVCCAM camcorder N EWARK, NJ — Panasonic (www.panasonic.com/broadcast) is now shipping its new AG-AC8PJ, an AVCCAM shouldermount camcorder. Designed for documentaries, corporate videos and sporting events, the AG-AC8PJ offers 1080p recording capabilities (720p at 8Mbs) and is priced at $1,450. The camcorder's functionality includes a wide-angle 28mm/F1.8 lens that allows the operator to fit more people and background into the frame. A 21X optical/50x super-high resolution zoom facilitates shooting scenes that are difficult to access. Intelligent auto (iA) resolution technology enables acquisition at high zoom rates while preserving the image resolution. A 1/4.5 type high-sensitivity sensor ensures bright and sharp images even in dimly lit scenes. With dual SD card slots and the capability to record on both cards simultaneously, the AC8PJ's Relay Auto Switch functionality provides dependable back-up recording or the ability to switch from one card to the other for extended recording times. Input control commands can be made by the AC8PJ's integrated three-inch touch panel LCD and Smart Touch. The camcorder is Eye-Fi SD card compatible, making the transfer of recordings via a wireless network fast. Interfaces include HDMI TypeA, microphones (stereo mini), headphone (stereo mini), USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Host/Device, AV, and video component.
