Nugen adds 7.1 to ISL limiter L EEDS, UK — At the AES convention in New York, Nugen Audio (www.nugenaudio.com) showed upgrades to its ISL inter-sample true-peak limiter. The enhancements are a response to customer demand in the film and game sectors, and include a 7.1 surround channel configuration that adds the ability to limit true-peak audio according to the Apple Mastered for iTunes methodology. ISL ($249) is part of Nugen's range of loudness correction tools, which also includes the VisLM ($449) and LMCorrect ($399). ISL measures inter-sample peaks and allows users to set the true-peak limit rather than the traditional threshold at which limiting begins. By measuring and correcting for inter-sample levels, ISL protects against distortion that can be introduced when codecs such as MP3 and AAC are applied downstream. With the new release, ISL's true-peak detection algorithm now enables accurate assessment of audio and preparation of cleaner compressed files for Apple's iTunes channel. Nugen is offering all three products as a "loudness toolkit" that's priced at $929. Promise's RAID 5 employs Thunderbolt 2 M ILPITAS, CA — Promise Technology (www.promise.com) recently introduced the Pegasus2 Series with Thunderbolt 2 technology. The Pegasus2 Series is a RAID 5 solution with Thunderbolt 2 technology that can serve as a portable RAID systems for off-site shoots, enabling quick and safe backups of terabytes of data in just minutes. Running bi-directionally at 20Gbps — double the bandwidth of Thunderbolt — Thunderbolt 2 enables simultaneous 4K video file transfer and display. The advancement in bandwidth enables professionals to edit and view live 4K streams while backing up the same file to a Pegasus2 system, all with the same cables and connectors as the previous generation. Supporting both OS X and Windows platforms, Promise says the Pegasus2 Series will be available this Fall. Harmonic's MediaGrid works with Adobe Anywhere S AN JOSE, CA — Harmonic (www.harmonicinc.com) recently announced interoperability of its MediaGrid shared storage system with Adobe Anywhere, the collaborative video workflow platform. Integration of the two products enables media organizations to centralize and manage media delivery services from a primary location while giving users of Adobe tools the benefit of collaborating remotely with fast response times and at the best quality that can be delivered over the available network connection.  Adobe Anywhere is a collaborative workflow platform that empowers users of Adobe professional video solutions to work together, using centralized media, across standard networks. The MediaGrid shared storage system provides the bandwidth performance and storage capac- ity needed to support the on-demand adaptive bit rate transcoding used by Anywhere transcode engines to stream content over bandwidth connections that may lack performance normally needed to edit centrally-stored, high-resolution, high-quality images. By minimizing the hardware and support needed by satellite sites, the solution also simplifies administration and management tasks. SoundSoap now 64-bit S AUSALITO, CA — Soundness (www.soundness-llc.com) has released Version 3 of its SoundSoap audio noise reduction software.
