backstage for the festival. She then moved to New Mexico and started working in theater again as a resident designer for a theater company. "I wound up designing for many of the theaters in town and then film, so that's when I joined Local 480 in 2010 and stayed for 15 years." Sometime aer, during the streaming boom of 2021, Sperling was presented with the opportunity to work on a show in Santa Clarita and obtained her days to join Local 705 through that production. She has been a member of 705 since, with a wealth of paern making and costume experience that is a great aribute to bring to our union. "I feel very proud of my career, very honored to be a member of 705, really excited to be a Class Two Paern Maker, and can't wait to see what happens next." Sperling also loves her work and her team on High Potential. "I absolutely love the show. The crew is one of the best crews I've ever worked with. I hope that everybody who watches and enjoys the show appreciates it. It's a show that's craed with a lot of care. It's been a pleasure, and I hope it keeps running for many seasons." Lastly, Sperling loves making the skirts for the MOTIONPICTUREC O S T U M E R S .O R G 19 character Morgan. "She rocks them and it's fun because even though they're simple skirts, the fabrics that the Costume Designer, the ACD, and the Shopper pick out are unusual. They take the time to make a template of the skirt paern, the outline of my paern, and they will study and move the template around to find the perfect spot and the perfect layout. They take pictures and I line everything up just right. I also sometimes use commercial paerns and make adjustments to them. I'll use them as a sloper; it saves a lot of time. I like to transfer the commercial paern onto paern paper and never cut the commercial paern, so I can keep the paern intact, and then I make adjustments to the paern paper tracing." High Potential is filled to the brim with joy, respect, and love. From the crew, the cast, and the Costume Department; it is no wonder why this show is breaking records. May we all experience this level of generous gratitude on all our future productions. Viewers can see the hard work and talents of this dedicated Costume Department on ABC and next day on Hulu.
