Specifically in the Costume Department, I have never worked with such a wonderful and collaborative group of talented and lovely people." —LINDSAY CHELSOM change. It's such an insane detail but I love it and love it even more when it gets featured on camera." Background plays an important part of every show. Background artists help create the world that the main cast live in and Background Costumer Lindsay Chelsom dresses them accordingly, depending on which set they are on: the precinct headquarters, a crime scene, or walking down the street in Hollywood. "I dress all the BG and watch them on set, making sure they have all their proper looks for each scene, each day, then I wrap them out each night. I work closely with the Key BG Costumer in the office, Gilliam Zwick, who plans and pulls days in advance for what the BG will be needing to wear. When possible, I like to go to costume houses for her to help lighten her load. I also work closely with BG casting to communicate needs for sizing and personality types. I take continuity photos of each background artist in each look and post in SyncOnSet (the continuity program costumers use to track show continuity) to keep track of changes if we go back to the same script day. One of my favorite experiences is geing to know my core background group. They are the ones that always play when we are in the precinct set: secretary, uniformed cops, DAs, records clerks, and detectives. They are the loveliest group of people, and they always come prepared and we work together to make them look their best! They work hard and care about their performances. I look forward to precinct days! I also love episodes when we have maybe some crazy background costumes or effects we have to add—like when we had some skydivers or when we dressed a guy in a hammer costume." Chelsom joined Local 705 in 2001, geing her days at Western Costumes aer years of working in high fashion
