I have had the honor of knowing Bobbi since 1994, when we first worked together on Blown Away. From the moment I met her, it was clear she was a force to be reckoned with. A true standard-bearer in the world of post production audio, Bobbi's remarkable body of work reflects not only technical mastery and creative excellence but also a deep dedication to the craft of sound editing. What truly sets Bobbi apart is not only her exceptional skill as a sound editor, but the qualities she brings as a person: her leadership, her integrity and her generosity of spirit. She has consistently guided, mentored and inspired those around her, strengthening our community and raising the bar for all of us. Her recognition as the recipient of the distinguished Fellowship & Service Award is richly deserved, and I am proud to salute her achievements and celebrate her continued contributions to our industry. STEPHANIE BROWN S O U N D E D I T O R Congratulations Bobbi on receiving the Fellowship and Service award! I have known Bobbi for over 20 years. I worked with her as a sound assistant in the beginning of my career at Danetracks. The projects varied from independent films to big budget features like The Incredible Hulk. All along the way I learned a lot from Bobbi in her role as a dialogue/adr supervisor. She was always cool under pressure no matter what was happening on the project and always found a way to get the director and/ or picture editor what they were asking for. For as long as I've known Bobbi, her commitment to giving back has been unwavering. I have witnessed her dedication to her craft as well as her desire to spread this knowledge, especially to young up and coming editors. She has constantly found opportunities to volunteer her time and expertise to those who ask. When Local 700 created the Diversity committee and established the African-American steering committee, Bobbi found yet another avenue to give back her community and the union. I believe this allowed her the most valuable platform yet to really participate in the union, not only as a working member, but to help shape union culture. I am so glad Bobbi is being recognized for selfless dedication to serving others. LILLIAN BENSON F I L M E D I T O R Bobbi Banks and I did not cross paths in NY at the famed sound facility Sound One, although both our professional careers began on the East Coast. We met in 2016 onstage at an MPEG-sponsored panel at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, moderated by Maysie Hoy. Since that time, Bobbi has generously shared her insights about navigating the film industry and has been a source of support and encouragement to me in my career. Her secret "weapon" is her ability to navigate difficult conversations and build consensus. Just watch her on a committee. She works hard for the Guild and is always on the lookout for ways to educate the public, especially young people, about what "we do." Banks Notes
