Bobbi's spirit and drive are truly inspirational. She has an innate passion not only for the craft itself but for sharing her knowledge and lifting up the next generation of sound professionals. I first met Bobbi years ago working at EFX Studios in Burbank. At that time, in the early 90s, Bobbi had already contributed to many films stretching back several years but I was just getting my feet wet. EFX was headed up by the late Paul Rodriguez, someone who proved to be a major supporter of the craft of audio over the coming many years. It was an amazing little place bursting with creative talent from which sprang so many brilliant future careers. And let's not fail to mention what a cool name Bobbi has, just like a comic book superhero - Peter Parker, Guy Gardner, Wally West, Bruce Banner, Bobbi Banks. Bobbi and I crossed paths many times after that, usually though at least once a year at the MPSE Golden Reel Awards. Bobbi is always looking for ways to open doors for others and create opportunities for learning and inspiration. On more than one occasion, she's texted me to ask if she could bring someone by the Blizzard campus for a tour of our facilities—the museum, the library, and our little mix stage. On one of these visits, my team and I had lunch with Bobbi and her guest, and we were all fascinated by the conversation and her insights. A few years ago, Bobbi asked me to contribute to a project she was supervising called Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker. It was a period piece about the African American entrepreneur Madam C.J. Walker, who became America's first female self-made millionaire. The story was deeply moving, and being a part of that project is something I remain incredibly proud of. I am honored to be able to call Bobbi a friend, and I congratulate her on this prestigious Fellowship & Service Award. With the description - Professionalism, Collaboration, Mentorship, Generosity of Spirit, and a Deep Commitment to the Labor Movement, I honestly could not think of anyone who epitomizes these qualities more. CHERELE CARGILL/ SIENNA JEFFRIES H R C A S T I N G Bobbi Banks is an exceptionally talented individual who effortlessly, meticulously, and thoughtfully, approaches her craft. She possesses an innate ability to change the mood of the room and she approaches work with a child-like wonder. Her credits, experience and wisdom are admirable. She cultivates a collaborative, safe space where performers and engineers explore their talents. She believes in you, lends support, and allows you to soar. We are forever changed for the better by working with her. ANDY KOYAMA R E - R E C O R D I N G M I X E R In my 4 decades of mixing sound for film, Bobbi Banks must be the most gracious, empathetic person I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Her craft and skill are without match. She is always the spiritual light on the stage. She elevates all of us to do our finest work. Bobbi, I am so thrilled you are receiving this wonderful honor, you deserve all the accolades in the world. Banks Notes
