G O O D G L A M L O C K | P E R S P E C T I V E 4 3 behind the flexibility of the set in the first place. All together—that was key—each person was a player in the process, likely included were other CBS executives I did not interact with. I do not believe a Production Designer alone could accomplish the scale of what happened. We aimed to salvage all that we could. Joe and his team in Toronto meticulously cataloged and packed windows, paneling, fascia, doors, hardware, a cantilevered steel and glass staircase, glass railings, elevators—estimated at over $350,000 US worth of materials. Securing their transport across the border seemed unthinkable, but the proof was in the customs manifesto. Two semitrucks full of scenery would be headed to Los Angeles. Fun fact I find interesting. The original Matlock (1986) started in Los Angeles at Univeral Studios filming seasons 1-6. Then moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, for three more seasons. Was it coming home for its reboot? Now standing on Stage 8 in Paramount, included on the studio tours (yay!), those very same windows, and all that was unpacked from the semis, stands as part of the Matlock's series set. They have racked up a total of forty hours on TV to date. Not too bad for three first-season shows. But why stop here? It was with the help of the series construction coordinator Marcel Worsh and CBS Studios that we were able to mix in scenery from other casualties of the strike. I went to a few storage warehouses and tagged sets headed for the dumpster from both American Gigolo and Fatal Attraction. They joined the collage of reusable flats that got a facelift and were born again to be used for Matlock's series. So successful was the resurrection of Fatal Attraction's courtroom and hallway to be rethemed for Matlock, it has also been used for NCIS: Origins. A shout-out to the Art Department of Fatal Attraction, led by Nina Ruscio. MEETING ROOM. J. GOOD SAM LOUNGE. K. GLAMOROUS CAFE. L. MATLOCK MEETING ROOM. C B I J K L
