Once again, I found myself holding a text that felt rich, visual and full of emotional depth. We met for coffee at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo after I'd read the script. Joachim spoke, in a raw and honest way, about how this wasn't a story he had dreamed of making, but one he needed to tell. He reflected on how short life is, how much of it he had spent working, and his own journey toward finding a home, a person, a sense of peace. I could relate. Like many filmmakers, I had filled much of my life with work. But recently, like Joachim, I had also found someone—a partner who challenged that "work first" mentality, who reminded me that home isn't just a location, it's a relationship, a choice. There was a quiet, mutual recognition in that moment: two people, both at a new phase in life, reconnecting through the shared project of making something that mattered. Joachim also spoke about reconciliation—his desire for things to be good, for relationships to heal, for space to be made for the things left unsaid. That desire permeates the film. It's about trauma, and how it echoes through a family over time. It's about absence, presence and the things we carry. He also shared his ambition to allow time in the shoot for stillness—to make room for small, poetic, almost Malickian moments. "We need to schedule space for beauty," he said. These gentle tableaux, the quiet shifts in light, the slow way a house remembers—were not aesthetic extras, but essential to the story. Then came the surprise. After months of scouting, Joachim had chosen the family house. And it turned out to be the house—the same one B. MODEL OF FAMILY HOUSE. C. STAGE PLAN OF FAMILY HOUSE WITH LED SCREEN PLACEMENT. D.
