LMGI COMPASS | Spring 2025 • 13 New York Garden Party On February 23, the wondrous Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) opened its doors to 100 New York and New Jersey based location professionals for a scout and brunch at the Lillian and Amy Goldman Atrium. In attendance were LMGI members, including Sam Adler, Chris Arena, Kate Beall, Arjuna Bharathan, Ruby Bowles, Stephanie Cabal, Lexi Carlson, Ryan Ferguson, Miguel Fernandez, Les Fincher, Megan Foerster, Gahan Haskins, Rich Hobbs, Jay Horne, Aaron Hurwitz, John Hutchinson, Isabelle Kostic, John Latenser, Eddie Llovio, Jennifer Lyne, Angelica Marciano, Joe Mennella, Jacki Phipps, Drew Schofar, Mike Stanziale, Ben Stern (and son), Dan Tresca, Thomas Whidden, Adam Williams, Jeff Vari and Mia Thompson. The event, organized by NY LMGI Board member Eric Klein and the Director of Earned Income at BBG, Gabrielle Nurnberger, was a beautiful, well-attended gathering—complete with a boozy brunch and networking. Attending representatives from the NYC Mayor's Office were impressed with the event and the Guild's mission. Normally, the Goldman Atrium has a living roof of native grasses and wildflowers, but since NY has had a late spring, there was not much in bloom. Free passes were distributed by the BBG so all could return later in the season and experience the Garden at its peak. The BBG has a long history of accommodating New York-based productions, most recently Gotham, The Americans and Kinda Pregnant. The official brunch and tours went on from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., but people were having such a great time, they stayed till after 1:30 p.m. Per Les Fincher/LMGI, "The Brooklyn Botanic Garden event was a great success: People met each other, talked and shared. All in a beautiful building surrounded by 52 acres of glorious plantings and sunshine. The BBG contacts feel the effort was a good investment for the future. The Mayor's Office staff in attendance has a growing respect and understanding of the LMGI's impact." Adds Director Nurnberger, "It was such a treasure to take some time on a winter morning to foster connections between members of the LMGI, between industry professionals and the garden, between people, plants and nature. Brooklyn Botanic Garden was so honored to host this gathering and to meet so many wonderful people. Cheers to a fruitful 2025 for all involved."
