Can you talk about this choice? Jeff: When we decided to scale up, we looked into many different options, but we were impressed with what JBL was doing in their 7 Series. Our first mix stage, which was a rental, had JBL 7 Series speakers, and we loved them so much that we decided to use JBL speakers throughout our new facility. For our Dolby Atmos stages, we took a chance on JBL cinema speakers, specifically the C222s, and they turned out great. Korey: I understand that the new Boom Box Post primarily uses Focusrite interfaces? Kate: One of the key reasons we chose Focusrite is their simplicity and reliability. We didn't want to spend a whole bunch of money on overly complex setups. Focusrite interfaces allow us to connect our equipment with single-cable connections to powerful Macs, making our workflow streamlined and efficient. This setup is particularly beneficial for our editorial and mixing rooms. Jeff: Another advantage of using Focusrite gear is that it supports our philosophy of "simpler is better." We believe that fewer links in the chain lead to fewer potential issues and a more efficient workflow. All our rooms, including our Dolby Atmos stages, run on native Focusrite hardware. This consistency across our facility ensures that we can maintain high standards of audio quality and reliability. Kate: We also use single-mixer setups for our projects and all of our rooms. This approach allows us to handle everything quickly and efficiently. As mixers, we feel comfortable diving into any aspect of the project, whether it's sound effects, Foley, or dialogue editorial. Using streamlined technology like the Focusrite + Mac Pros, and single mixers helps us stay nimble and responsive to our clients' needs. Commitment to Diversity Korey: Can you talk about your commitment to diversity? Kate: From the beginning, we aimed Boom Box Post's original location had a humble lobby with IKEA furniture, a printed sign, and toys from past animated projects (2015). Boom Box Post purchased what was formerly an auto body shop in Burbank, CA, which underwent construction for a year to transform it into a state of the art post-production sound facility (2021).
