14 I M PS E . O R G BY BERNARD WEISER MPSE Bridging the Gap BETWEEN ASPIRING PROFESSIONALS AND INDUSTRY EXPERTS Here is the latest from Entertainment Industry Professionals Mentoring Alliance: NAB 2025 The signs of our industry coming back to life continue, however, it has been very slow and certainly makes us all wonder why. The business of making films and broadcast content is changing and unfortunately, all of us in post-production are the last to get relief. For those seeking jobs in our industry, opportunities From April 5 through April 9, Las Vegas hosted this year's 2025 NAB show. It was great to connect with AVID executives—Laurie Durcan, VP, Customer Relations & AVID Learning Program, and Angela Stelle, Chief Marketing Officer. EIPMA is grateful for their support. Also spoke with Marc Zorn, Chair of the SMPTE Hollywood Section, about joining forces on future programs, events and continuing the close relationship between our organizations. More about this to come soon. NAB had many exhibitors selling equipment and software for podcasters and independent content makers. This included storytellers making fictional videos to be distributed through the web and on social media on affordable budgets for the individual. This is an interesting direction and points to how young people digest their entertainment. A discussion that all of us in the industry should take part in. What does this mean creatively? What future impact does this have on the business of film & broadcast? (L-R): Marc Zorn and Bernard Weiser MPSE are there, when one door closes another door opens. It's a question of finding that door and being prepared, available, and ready to meet those opportunities. This is what we at EIPMA wishes to impart to those students and individuals. We are making a difference, with your help and support, donations are appreciated. EIPMA & Tomorrow's Talent In collaboration with Tomorrow's Talent, EIPMA has set up an experience tour for students from the Palm Springs Unified School District to come and see behind the scenes via a private tour at Universal Studios. Special thanks to NBCUniversal Studio Post for making this happen. These tours give students an unforgettable experience accompanied by professionals working in picture and sound. They gain insights into the many jobs and roles that go into the intricate process of creating films. It is satisfying to know that we are helping to cultivate the next generation of creative professionals in the exciting and dynamic world of entertainment.
