This makes it the 18th year of this brand and a tribute to the work of Joseph Geisinger who mixed the full 15 years of the original. Kevin Strahm CAS has been busy mixing the untitled Christy Martin boxing biopic in Charlotte, NC, for Blackbear/Anonymous Content, along with boom operator Levi Carter and sound utility Mitch Haigley. Karol Urban CAS MPSE completed the mix on Say Nothing for FX/Hulu with Jamie Hardt and David Di Pietro CAS. She has now teamed up with David Tichauer on an exciting soon-to-be- announced production. Philip Perkins CAS has been mixing the PBS docs Making Waves: The Rise of Asian America and Post Atlantic: The Art of Dewey Crumpler, along with the ballet film Ode to Alice. B E E N T H E R E D O N E T H AT Gavin Fernandes CAS has been busy (well, busier than the beginning of the year) finishing the third season of The World of Gabrielle Roy. After that, it's onto the features Wrong Husband and then Space Cadet. "Wishing you all the best through the holidays!" Whit Norris CAS with Kevin Cerchiai and Matt Thompson, both Associate CAS members, finished a month of additional photography on Captain America: Brave New World. After that, Pro Tools playback operator Derek Pacuk joined the team for Disney's live-action Moana, directed by Thomas Kail. They finished principal photography shortly before Thanksgiving in Hawaii where Ernesto Alvarez joined them. Amanda Beggs CAS completed a Monkeypaw Productions movie called Him in New Mexico with her boom op, Eva Rismanforoush, and local utility Steve Willer. Then, she immediately headed to Latvia for two months to work on Kristen Stewart's feature directorial debut, The Chronology of Water. Amanda worked with local boom op Verners Biters and ate a lot of cabbage and pink soup. She's currently mixing a new Ryan Murphy show called All's Fair, where she reunited with Eva as her boom and Yisel Pupo Calles as her utility, with the entire cast remarking on the rarity of an all-woman production sound team. Steve Weiss CAS begins production on Suits: L.A. with Ron Wright on boom and Natasha Fagan handling the utility chores. It's great after the long dry spell. Charles Dayton CAS MPSE shares, "I'm currently working on my 10th season of Penn & Teller: Fool Us and recently finished a documentary on a triage hospital on the front lines of the war in Ukraine called Heroes of Hope. I also recently finished mixing a found- footage horror film called House on Eden with sound supervisor Kunal Rajan. As Co-chair of the CAS Events Committee, I'm particularly proud of our Sounding Board v4.0, our out-of- town screenings of TRON in Vancouver and Baby Driver in Atlanta, our in-town screening of The Abyss, and our CAS Picnic. Thanks to everyone for their hard work in making these events happen!" T H E L I G H T E R S I D E Daniel Vasquez V. CAS received the Colombian Academy Award (Macondo Awards 2024) for Best Sound for the film Ruben's Bolero. He shared the award with Sebastian Alzate (co-supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer) and Jaime Cujaban (production mixer).
