In addition to the discussions, the Parade of Carts and Bags, along with vendor tables, offered a wonderful array of technology, both old and new for production and post, with experienced colleagues available to connect and educate on the full capabilities of the equipment shown. During the event, CAS President Peter Kurland and MPSE President David Barber shared their joy to be with the members in our first year at USC in the School of Cinematic Arts. They thanked professors Richard Burton and Midge Costin (a recent CAS new member) for their work with Dean Elizabeth M. Daley and the School of Cinematic Arts for their partnership in helping the event to grow and find a new home. The Presidents concluded their remarks with the presentation of a check to Mark Lanza MPSE who was representing EIPMA. The Entertainment Industry Professionals Mentoring Alliance, an organization close to the hearts of both the CAS and MPSE organizations, was established after the passing of industry veteran Paul Rodriguez, who gave his time and experience so generously to those wanting to learn. EIPMA's mission, to give career guidance for individuals seeking craft and technical careers in the entertainment industry, is aligned with that of both the MPSE and the CAS. The $4,000 check was a rounded- up figure from all the ticket sales for the day. Given the short turnaround time from the event and our publication, we are featuring the Parade of Carts and Bags, along with the panel event "Communication Breakdown." More in-depth coverage will be included in our Spring CAS Quarterly. Also, videos from the event will be posted to the CAS website under the Events tab shortly. The event was well-attended, and there are plans to make greater use of this wonderful venue next year. I hope to see even more of you at The Sound Board v5.0! David Barber MPSE and Peter Kurland CAS present Mark Lanza MPSE of EIPMA with a check of the event's proceeds. Some of our wonderful volunteers!
